Priya Birdi is a Perth-based Ayurveda practitioner offering deeply personalised support for digestive health, energy, wellbeing, and living in balance.
Ancient wisdom, thoughtfully applied to modern life.
About Priya
Priya Birdi has been practising Ayurveda in Perth since 2014, working with clients navigating digestive health concerns, food sensitivities, chronic fatigue, women's hormonal health, and the kind of persistent, hard-to-pin-down unwellness that often falls between the gaps of conventional care.
She holds an Advanced Diploma of Ayurveda (HLT60712), is a member of the Australasian Association of Ayurveda, and is a qualified Reiki Master. Her clinical approach combines traditional Ayurvedic diagnostics with contemporary functional lab testing, partnering with leading Australian laboratories for gut microbiome analysis, food intolerance panels, and more.
What distinguishes Priya's practice is not a technique or a protocol. It is a philosophy. Her goal is not to manage symptoms on behalf of her clients, but to build in each person a genuine understanding of their own unique constitution - the Ayurvedic concept of dosha - and the specific conditions that support or undermine their individual balance. Clients who leave their first consultation with that understanding carry something genuinely useful for the rest of their lives.
Priya operates a private practice seeing clients by appointment, with consultations available in person in Perth, Western Australia, and via telehealth across Australia.
Priya Birdi — Ayurveda Practitioner Perth
“Ayurveda gave me the tools to be in sync with my mind and body, and my goal is to share these tools with you.
The ultimate medicine is your connection with your self, by connecting with your self you can begin to listen to your body and understand the causes of balance or imbalance. This is the first step on your journey towards health and wellbeing.”
Areas of Focus
Ayurveda addresses the whole person rather than isolated conditions. Within that, Priya has developed particular depth of experience in the following areas:.
Digestive Health and Gut Wellbeing
Bloating, sluggish digestion, irregular bowel function, food sensitivities, reflux, and fatigue after eating are among the most common reasons people seek Ayurvedic support. From an Ayurvedic perspective, digestive strength (agni) is the foundation of overall health. When digestion is compromised, it creates downstream effects across energy, immunity, mood, and skin. Priya works with clients to understand what is driving their specific digestive pattern and build sustainable, practical changes to restore balance.
Women's Health, Hormonal Wellbeing and Perimenopause
Many women find that the hormonal transitions of perimenopause and menopause surface a range of symptoms - fatigue, weight changes, sleep disruption, mood fluctuations, digestive changes - that feel difficult to address through a single lens. Ayurveda's emphasis on nourishment, nervous system support, digestion, and daily rhythm offers a framework that many women find both validating and practically useful during these transitions.
Men's Health, Vitality and Emotional Wellbeing
Men frequently present with digestive concerns, fatigue, stress-related symptoms, and a sense of being chronically below their optimal energy and mental clarity - often having dismissed these patterns for longer than they should. Ayurveda's individualised approach to diet, lifestyle, stress, and daily rhythm offers practical, grounded support for men seeking to understand their own constitution and build lasting foundations for vitality, focus, and emotional balance.
Preventative Health and Longevity - Living in Balance
Ayurveda's greatest strength is arguably not in addressing illness but in preventing it. For clients who are broadly well but sense that their energy, digestion, sleep, or vitality are not what they should be, an Ayurvedic assessment offers a proactive map - identifying constitutional tendencies toward imbalance before they become established conditions, and building the daily practices that support lasting vitality and graceful ageing.
Emotional Wellbeing and Inner Resilience
Ayurveda has always understood what modern research is confirming through gut-brain axis science - that emotional and physical health are not separate systems. Chronic stress, anxiety, and nervous system dysregulation have measurable effects on digestion, immunity, sleep, and hormonal balance. Priya's approach addresses these connections directly, building lifestyle and dietary foundations that support both physical and emotional equilibrium.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda (pronounced "AH-yur-VAY-dah") is one of the world's oldest recorded healing sciences, with roots stretching back more than 5,000 years. Its central premise is both simple and radical: that every person is constitutionally unique, and that genuine wellbeing comes not from universal prescriptions but from understanding your own individual nature.
At the heart of Ayurveda is the concept of the three doshas - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha - the energetic principles that govern physical and psychological function. Your unique dosha combination shapes your digestion, your sleep, your emotional tendencies, your response to stress, and your susceptibility to particular kinds of imbalance. Understanding it is the beginning of understanding yourself.
Ayurveda is not a rejection of modern medicine. It is a complementary lens - one that asks different questions, operates on a different timescale, and pays close attention to the patterns of daily life that conventional healthcare often doesn't have the space to explore. Diet, meal timing, sleep rhythms, stress patterns, seasonal changes, and the quality of daily routine are all understood as primary determinants of health, not lifestyle extras.
In Australia, where less than 2% of healthcare spending goes toward prevention despite a significant chronic disease burden, Ayurveda's fundamentally preventative orientation offers something genuinely valuable, both for people already unwell and for those who want to invest in staying well.
Acknowledgement & Gratitude
My practice is a humble homage to the legacy of Ayurveda, a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern understanding. But it is also a tribute to the spirit of the Whadjuk Noongar Aboriginal people.
I am deeply grateful to practice the art and science of healing on West Australian Boodja. The Whadjuk, custodians of this country, guide us with their deep connection to self, land, and the rhythm of life. May we all learn to walk lightly on this Earth, to listen to the whispers of nature and the music within, and to co-create a symphony of peace and well-being, one mindful step at a time.
Just as the Whadjuk people understand the rhythm of the six seasons and the language of the land, Ayurveda teaches us to listen to our own inner symphony, the ebb and flow of our doshas, and our deep connection to mother earth.
The magic lies not just in the ancient herbs and potent mantras, but in the profound respect we cultivate for ourselves, for each other, and for the land that cradles us all.
I acknowledge the ancient seers who birthed this beautiful science of Ayurveda and pay my respect to the generations of healers who kept its flame alive.
As we tread on this journey of well-being together, let us carry the spirit of respect, gratitude, and unity – a dance where the steps are guided by the wisdom of Ayurveda and the heartbeat of the Whadjuk Noongar Boodja.
