What to expect at your first appointment
I offer both face to face and telehealth video consultation appointment options.
The initial appointment is quite in-depth, it's a two way discovery experience, where I firstly learn about you, then I show you how to apply the guiding principles of Ayurveda to learn more about yourself - what makes you tick, and what are the contributing factors that can tip you off balance.
Once booked in you will receive some online forms to fill in - this information will allow me to prepare for your appointment beforehand so that we can make the best use of your time.
Ayurveda recognizes the unique mind-body constitution of each individual, therefore my sessions are very personalised. I absorb the information you share in these forms, and develop an understanding of your Ayurveda constitution before we meet for the appointment.
The initial session can take approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. Why so long you ask? - my approach is to equip you with the tried and tested wisdom of Ayurveda so you can walk away from your very first appointment empowered and on track to achieve your health goals. I don't simply tell my patients what to do, I go one step further and tell you WHY

An initial consultation with Priya Birdi is a comprehensive, unhurried assessment of your health from a holistic perspective - covering digestion, gut health, sleep, lifestyle, emotional wellbeing, and health history. If you have previous blood work or medical test results, please send these before your appointment so Priya can review them in advance and your session is as thorough as possible. Using a variety of assessment tools such as identifying your unique mind-body constitution and pulse reading (nadi pariksha in Sanskrit), Priya identifies where imbalance may be present.
As part of the session, personalised wellness plan is co-developed with you to integrate into your life, tailored specifically to your constitution and health goals.
Consultations are available in person in Perth, Western Australia, and via telehealth across Australia.

Your first consultation with Priya runs between one and a half to two hours. Addressing gut health, digestion, lifestyle, and overall wellbeing thoroughly takes time - this isn't a quick-fix appointment. Please allow this time in your schedule so your session is unhurried and nothing important is left uncovered.

Yes. On making a booking health assessment questionnaires will be sent to you for completion prior to your appointment. Please also send any blood work or previous medical test results to Priya before your appointment so she can review them in advance - this allows your session to go deeper, faster.
On the day, bring a notepad and pen, as you will want to record the recommendations and insights covered. This will form your core guide to enable implementation.
